The weather was the same as yesterday. I saw more squirrels than yesterday. But every thing else was the same. One day doesn't make a huge difference. since the first observations the vegetation and the animals have grown enough to tell that is a mature forest. I look back at my first observations and the grass was barely getting life and now the grass is very green. The trees are more mature than the first observation but the leaves are still light green and i know the leaves are going to get darker. The animals community grew allot, at first i didn't see very many but know you can hear and see them all around you. Insects are the ones that grew the most. i did see some birds nest in the trees, that means the bird population is growing. but that is the only difference from yesterday. The only thing my location is going to do from now on is keep growing until winter comes.

observation #7
location - cash creek
date - may/28/2008
time - 6:33
temperature
weather conditions - sun and cloudy
wind conditions - no wind
soil conditions - damp
The weather has still been very rainy but today it was sunny in the morning and a little rain in the evening. I think the rain is helping the vegetation allot, the trees are going to get numerous leaves and the grass is going to get healthier. when i went to the site i could smell the sage brush more than the other times, it was probably because they got wet a litte. what i saw the most was were the dandelions, it is a good thing for the bees because the dandelions provide pollen for the bees and the bees use the pollen to make honey. The birds are the ones that are making the most noise in the site which is a sign that the population of birds is growing at a steady pace. But it can also mean that the birds are going to have more competition for the food and the space in the site, for the worms that can be a problem but i think worms grow very quick. I still don't really know how the squirrels are doing they are always trees. I usually see a couple every time i go but this time i went home empty handed. The insects seem to be doing rather good there are more insects in the air flying than on the ground. with time i be starting to see more ants.

Flora Report

The common name Dandelion is given to members of the genus taraxacum. Dandelion is a perennial that grows best in moist areas in full sun, however, it can survive some shade and dry conditions once established. It produces a strong taproot that is capable of penetrating the soil to a depth of 10 to 15 feet, but it is most commonly 6 to 18 inches deep. There are no true stems, rather the leaves are clustered in a rosette at the base of the plant. Leaves vary in length from 2 to 14 inches and from 1/2 to 3 inches wide. Seed germination occurs at or very near the soil surface. Light increases germination. The seed germinates when soil is moist and soil temperature is at least 50°F; however, germination is more rapid when the soil temperatures are closer to 77°F. Germination occurs throughout the growing season.
Dandelion are an important plant for bees. Not only is the appearance of their flowers used as an indicator that the honey bee season is starting, but they are also an important source of nectar and pollen early in the season. The Dandelions aren't only for bees it can also be used for a salad and making wine. Dandelions can be beneficial to a garden ecosystem as well as to human health. Dandelions attract beneficial ladybugs and provide early spring pollen for their food. Dandelions long roots aerate the soil and enable the plant to accumulate minerals, which are added to the soil when the plant dies. Dandelions are also used as herbal remedies. The white sap from the stem and root is used as a topical remedy for warts.

weather conditions - raining
soil conditions - wet
Today the weather condition was rainy, it has been raining since yesterday in the evening. For the vegetation its a good thing because the Reilly on water for food and photosynthesis. On my way to the location i saw allot of worms lying on the side walk, some were dead and some were still alive. In my location i didn't see many birds coming out to eat. I think the weather was holding the bird back from feasting on the worms. I'm not quite sure what kinds of birds lives in the site of the road. I was trying to find bird nests in the trees but i didn't see any. Since the weather was drizzling rain, there wasn't that much activity going on with the squerals. I only saw two squerals runing in to the trees. they were probably going to their shelter to take cover from the rain. The willo trees are finally getting more leaves on their branches. The dandy lions are everywhere not only on the site but on people's front yards and in the parks as well. I think the dandy lions i have seen in peoples yards aren't going to be there for long because dandy lions aren't flowers they are weeds and alot of them make their front yards look ugly. By this time all the biotic and biotic factors are just keep growing every day.

weather conditions - sunny
wind conditions - medium
I saw a huge improvement in the trees in the past five day. Even before i got to my location i saw the trees on the side walk filled with little green leaves, but when i got to my location all the ground was filled with dandy lions. Were my house is there isn't any because we put weed killer on our yard. The insects grew greatly in Numbers. i saw bees this time and more insects i couldn't identify. The weather was very sunny which help the plants do photosynthesis. The nights are very cool, perfect for the vegetation because. in the mornings when i wake the grass doesn't have frost on it. The whole ecosystem has grown since my last visit. Squirrels in the area are growing in population in the way that i can see and hear them. Birds are the most often species I can see in the area, which is a good thing. I think the trees are going to get more leaves in a few days and the animal population is going to increase more than it is today.

Weaather conditions - sunny
wind condition - no wind
soil conditions dry
The vegetation had improved in the passed days. The grass is getting darker green so are the leaves on some flowers. What i haven't seen so much is improvement in the willows, they were getting some leaves but now i don't see any at all. The birds in the area are getting more food like worms and i am starting to see more flies around. Some insects I've seen are lady bugs, crickets, moths and other bugs that fly that i cant identify. what i still want to see are big species like a deer or moose. The human activity is getting very often. every time i go there are people jogging on days like today, which is a problem for animals because they see activity and don't want to get close. I tried going off the trail and look for other activity of any kind, but every thing was the same. Birds in the site are still competing food. I saw two birds fighting to the death. My predictions are that the birds are going to stop competing for food in a few days because the worm population is growing rapidly. The activity of the squirrels that I've seen isn't as lively as the birds because the squirrels are always hiding in the trees, but i did manage to see about four. I did encounter what i think was a mole or a prairie dog some creature that dwells under ground. I am positive that in a few days the Willow trees are going to get leaves.
